AOL 9 / AOL Webmail SafeSender Services
AOL 9 and AOL Webmail both give you the choice
to save an email address to your address book.
You may also use the advanced AOL Spam Controls
to create a Custom Sender List that will only
allow email from the senders and domains in the
list. In both AOL 9 and AOL Webmail, the "From"
address is saved to the Address Book.
AOL 9
In AOL 9 the "From" address is saved to the
Address Book. To add addresses to your AOL
Address Book follow the instructions below:
-
1. On the right side of the main AOL mail
message screen, click Mail Options,
and select Address Book.
-
2. On the bottom of the Address Book
screen, click Add.
-
3. Enter the contact information for the person you want to add.
-
4. Click Save when you are finished.

If you are using AOL Spam Controls
and only allowing mail from senders on your
Custom Sender List, you can add an email
address to this list.
-
1. From the top main screen menu, select the
Safety menu and then select
Spam Controls.
-
2. From the bottom of the Mail and Spam Controls
dialog box, in the Additional Spam Filters section,
select Edit (located next to the Sender Filter).
-
3. From the Sender Filter dialog box,
click the Use a Custom Sender List link.
-
4. From the Custom Sender List dialog
box, enter the email address you want to add.
-
5. Click Add, then click Save.

AOL Webmail
In both AOL 9 and AOL Webmail, the "From" address
is saved to the Address Book. To add addresses
to your AOL Address Book follow the instructions below.
-
1. On the right of the main AOL message screen,
click Addresses.
-
2. Click the New dropdown menu
on the navigation bar and select New
Contact. The Edit Contact page displays.
-
3. Enter the contact information for the person
you want to add. Click Save.

If you are using the AOL Spam Controls and are
only allowing mail from senders on your "Custom
Sender List", you can add an email address to
this list as well:
-
1. On the right of the AOL main mail page, click Settings.
-
2. On the Settings page, click
Spam Controls. The
Advanced Spam Filter settings will display.
-
3. Under Additional Spam Filters, click Control Who I Get Mail From.
-
4. When the Control Who I Get Mail From
screen displays, click the Customer
Sender List link from the radio button
item Allow mail from only the senders
on my Custom Sender List.
-
5. On the Customer Sender List, enter
an email address or the domain and click
Add. When you are finished,
click Save.

Excite Mail SafeSender Services
Excite.com Mail provides the ability to save
individual email addresses and create a Safelist
that automatically delivers specific email
addresses to your Inbox. In Excite Mail, the
"From" address is saved to the Address Book.

1. On the right of the Excite Inbox page, click Mail Preferences.
-
2. On the Mail Preferences page, under Spam Prevention Tools, click Safe List.
-
3. On the Safe List page, enter one or more email addresses and then click Add.
-
4. Click Save.

Gmail SafeSender Services
Gmail gives you the option of saving an email
address to your address book. You need to save
the "From" address to the Address Book.
To add addresses to your Gmail Address Book:
-
1. On the left of the Gmail Inbox page, click Contacts.
-
2. On the right of the Contacts page, click Add Contact.
-
3. Enter the contact information for the person you want to add. Click Save.

Hotmail SafeSender Services
Hotmail gives you the choice of saving an email
address to your address book, as well as adding
email addresses and domains to a "Safelist" —
these addresses will not be filtered as junk mail.
Hotmail gives the option to save both the "From"
and "Reply To" addresses to the Address Book.

1. On the right of the Hotmail Inbox page, click Options.
-
2. On the Mail Options page, click Junk E-Mail Protection.
-
3. On the Junk E-mail Protection page, click Safe List.
-
4. On the Safe List page, type an email address or domain, and then click Add.

Outlook SafeSender Services
Outlook gives you the choice of saving an email
address to your address book, as well as adding
email addresses and domains to a "Safe Senders"
list — these addresses will not be filtered
as junk mail. Outlook saves the "From" address
to the Address Book.

1. You may use the contextual menus to add
contacts to the Safe List (to add through
the Main Menus, see below). Right-click on
the email message from where you want to
save the contact.
-
2. From the right-click menu, select Junk E-mail
-
3. From the expanded menu, select Add Sender to Safe Senders List.

Use the following steps to add the contact using
the main menus (for instructions on adding through
the contextual menus, see above).
-
1. From the main menu, click Tools, and then click Options.
-
2. On the Options screen, under the
Preferences tab, click the
Junk Email button.
-
3. On the Junk E-mail Option screen, click the Safe Senders tab.
-
4. In the Safe Sender tab, click the
Add button, enter the email
address or domain and click OK.

Outlook Express SafeSender Services
Outlook Express gives you the option of saving
an email address to your address book. In
Outlook Express, the "From" address is saved
to the Address Book.
To add addresses to your Outlook Express Address
Book, use the following step to add the contact
using the contextual menus:

1. Right-click on the email message from
where you want to save the contact.
-
2. From the right-click menu, select Add Sender to Address Book.

Use the following step to add the contact using the main menu.
-
1. From the main screen, click Addresses.
-
2. From the main menu, click File, and New Contact.
-
3. Enter the contact information for the person you want to add.
-
4. Click OK.

Thunderbird Mail SafeSender Services
Thunderbird allows you to save an email address
to your address book, so messages from those
contacts will be delivered directly to the Inbox.
Thunderbird saves the "From" address to the
Address Book.
Thunderbird Mail gives you the option to
whitelist your Address Book contacts:

1. From the main screen, click the Address Book button.
-
2. From the Address Book screen,
click the New Card button.
-
3. Enter the contact information for the person you want to add.
-
4. Click OK
-
5. From the main menu, click the Tools
drop-down list, then select Junk Mail Controls.
-
6. On the Junk Mail Controls screen,
click the Settings tab.
-
7. Under White Lists, check the box
Do not mark messages as junk mail
if the sender is in my Address Book.

Yahoo! Mail SafeSender Services
Yahoo Mail allows you to save an email address
to your address book. Emails sent to email
addresses in your Address Book will not be
filtered as Spam. In Yahoo Mail, the "From"
address is saved to the Address Book.
To ensure messages from specific e-mail addresses
are not sent to your Junk E-Mail folder, you can
add them to your Yahoo! Address Book.
Messages from your Yahoo! Address Book
will not be delivered to your bulk folder.

1. From the main Yahoo! Mail
message screen, click the Addresses tab
-
2. From the Addresses screen, there are
a number of ways to add contacts to your
Yahoo! Address Book:
-
– Use the Quick Add Contact
fields at the top or bottom of the address
book to easily add new contacts. Enter
information in the fields provided and
click Add.
-
– Click Add Contact
on the left of the address book. Next, enter
the contact information for the person you
want to add. Click Save Contact
when you are finished.
-
– Click Quickbuilder
next to Add Contact and
Add List. QuickBuilder setup
allows you to search your Yahoo! Mail
messages for contacts and add them to your
address book. Once you get your search results,
you can use the checkboxes and add these
contacts to your Address Book.
